some happy news…

Oh, but it’s tricky to write a blog when you have a secret you can’t share with the world. When I started the blog the intention was that I would tell everyone what was happening, especially since I was writing it for my family and friends as a way to communicate with the folks back home what was happening in my life. And the recipe repository portion of it, a happy bonus…

But, tradition and common sense dictates then when you are fast approaching forty with a baby on the way, you wait until the 3-month mark has passed before you share your news with the world. Then, let’s be honest, that’s the point at which they start doing tests on you to see if said baby is happy, healthy and normal, and again, when you are fast approaching forty, those tests are more of a concern than they might be to a perky 20 year old… And once you get the wonderful news that everything is okay, and that you are having a little girl… you want to share it with everyone, but first you share it with the most important people in your life, in Handsome’s case that would be the amazing three little girls he already has, and then you share it with your friends and family, and then… the dreaded work conversations… and then it’s time to let the world know, if you have a blog like me, that you are adding another person to the world…

So I don’t want you to fear, this won’t become a baby blog, God forbid, but there is nothing in my world more important than the person growing inside me right now, so please excuse future mentions and random thoughts on how this baby has changed my world.

I’m a babymama-in-waiting, but I’m still a cook, a wine maker, a gardener, a hop grower, a beer making assistant, a person that drives four hours a day, and oh yes, I work all day too. None of that will change. And as the Winter fades into Spring, I’m getting excited about the food I can start to grow and cook again. This has been a dry Winter, without much food inspiration. And this girl is going to take 3 months off with the baby, there has to be some room in there for some cooking, right? I can’t wait.

3 months off starts at the end of June, actually she is due on my birthday, which is the 29th, if you were interested! Watch this space…
